A pill of gratefulness.

We live in a chaotic world which if not careful ,more often than not we will find ourselves complaining endlessly. And by the time we get grey hairs,we discover that we spent nearly half….yes half of our lifetime whining over a few significant and several insignificant stuff.A pill of gratefulness is what we sometimes need ,to cool off our heads from the heat of this world.

I am humming a tune in the morning as I get ready to fist the world all day long. You see we wake up everyday to fight a series of endless battles.
Some with self,
some ,with our endless fears,
and some……..
With the big worlds trapped within the form of our bodies.

That is when I remember that my friend forwarded me a long text on whatsapp,…..this must  be the appropriate time to read it,I think to my sweet self.
And it goes like:

Over time I have discovered there is no absolute finish line for everyone in the race of life. Our tracks are different and our durations are different. The only thing we have in common is the same empire. For instance, one person graduates @ age 20 and struggles for another 5 years to get a job, another might graduate @ 25 and get a job immediately. One can marry a virgin and wait for the next decade to have the blessings of children, another lady probably after having series of abortions in her past, becomes a mother almost immediately after marriage. A fellow becomes MD @ 38 and dies @ 56, another becomes MD @ 55 and lives to 90. What a life! Life is full of twists, turns, ups and downs and many more surprises and disappointments. Life offers each one of us different opportunities and once an opportunity is lost, it’s gone forever except by the grace of God. It is up to each one of us to patiently prepare, wait, recognize and utilize every opportunity. We learn on the way. No one knows it all or has it better. There is a reason why we all don’t fall @ the same time. It’s so that when one is down, weak and discouraged, the other who is strong, can encourage and lift the other person. God never promise that the road would be easy but he promised never to leave nor forsake us. Although life is a competition, let us learn to go easy on ourselves and trust that God is working it all out for good (even if it doesn’t make sense now). I know that there is a time for everything but most importantly that ”  it will come to pass “. Whatever trials, challenges or down time , this too shall pass and in due course, u will be up and strong again to lift up those who maybe down.Never lose hope.”END.

My sister  always told me,’Baby sister, the grass is never greener on the other side.
For the first time I am getting to understand what she meant.

Just for a few minutes,I am going to need us to peel off those masks we always dorn as we think this through.

Why do we always feel that we(and we alone 🙂 rightfully deserve what our neighbors have?
How many times do we find ourselves telling out inner man,….”…..if only I had a better car like that of the Johneses,##shout outs to all economics students out there who understand that statement!*wink*

if only……I had studied abroad like that friend of my sister…
if only….I could afford pizza everyday…….
if only ….my skin was a shade lighter or darker like so and so…
If only……I…..like so and so…
If only I could……like  so and so……
If only…
if…..””””and the list goes on

I bet you are already listing your ‘ifs’
and …..if it be of any consolation to you loves,I am guilty of the same.
We are all hewn from the same fabric.Mere dissatisfied mortals.

We all are guilty of this at one point or the other and I am not oblivious of the fact  that if we had some of these things we cry foul over, our lives could have been significantly different. To a great extent for some.
And for some…status quo suffices.
This  definitely tells you that each one of us is a unique shade of white.

As I sat at my desk today I purposefully decided to swallow a pill of gratefulness.Plan to do the same. Its not a bitter one after all.
As the week ends,it doesn’t matter how lousy you found it to be.Neither does it matter whether you blindly staggered through it , all the way from Monday to Friday. We all go through that anyway.

Count your many                 blessings; every doubt will fly,        And you will be singing as the days go by.
Next time you feel like you ought to be like someone else,please remember;
everyone in life is a lead actor/actress …….
….of their own unique script.

Till next time,God take care of your pretty souls.
